What We Believe
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Our Foundation: What We Believe
These core convictions are the theological foundation upon which Victory College International is built. They are not academic propositions. They are living truths that should shape the culture, curriculum, and character of every VCI program globally.
THE BIBLE
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete and equipped for every good work. The Bible is our supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice.
GOD
1 John 5:6-8
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
JESUS CHRIST
1 Cor. 15:3-4 | 1 Pet. 2:18-24 | John 3:16
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory.
SALVATION
Rom. 10:9-10,13 | John 3:16 | Eph. 2:1-10
We believe that the only hope for mankind is faith in Jesus Christ, the virgin-born Son of God, fully God, fully man. Through faith in Christ's life, death, and resurrection, mankind is redeemed. Salvation is by grace through faith alone. No amount of good works produces justification before God. The manifestation of grace and faith is a holy life expressed through righteous works.
MAN
Genesis 1:26 | Romans 6:23
We believe that man was created in the image of God, but as a result of sin is lost and powerless to save himself.
THE HOLY SPIRIT
1 Corinthians 12
We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells all believers. Through the Baptism with the Holy Spirit, believers are empowered for Christian service and gifted for ministry. We believe the gifts of the Spirit are active and necessary for today.
HEALING
Isa. 53:4 | Matt. 8:16-17 | Mark 16:18 | 1 Pet. 2:24
We believe that deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement and is the privilege of all believers.
THE RETURN OF CHRIST
1 Thess. 4:13-18 | Rev. 22:20 | John 14:3
We believe in the imminent and personal return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
ETERNITY
Revelation 21:8 | John 3:16
We believe that eternal life in heaven is the reward of all who believe and receive Christ as Lord. We also believe in the reality of eternal separation from God for all who reject Him.
THE CHURCH
Matt. 28:18-20 | Col. 1:18 | Eph. 2:19-22 | Heb. 10:25
We believe that the Church is the Body of Christ, both universal and local, composed of all who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ. Christ Jesus is the Head and Lord of the Church. The mission of the Church is worship, evangelism, discipleship, and the nurturing and care of one another. The role of the Church is to mature each believer for the work of the ministry as a fully devoted follower of Christ, through encountering the presence of God, being equipped with the Word of God, and engaging in community with the people of God.
THE BELIEVER
Luke 10:27
The role of the believer is to know God and make Him known. Jesus invites us to follow Him by keeping the Great Commandment, to love God and love people through serving those around us, and the Great Commission, to make disciples as the Church.
VICTORY CULTURE VALUES
Thirteen values that shape how we live, lead, and serve together.
JOY
We choose to have joy each day in whatever task we're assigned to.
EXCELLENT SPIRIT
We give our best at whatever we do and make it better.
HONOR
Honor up, honor down, honor all around. We honor God, we honor this house, and honor others by showing respect.
UNITY
We are peacemakers, strife stoppers, team players, and bridge builders.
GRATITUDE
We value each day and each task by having an attitude of "we get to" rather than "we have to."
EXPECTANCY
We believe our best days are right in front of us.
EQUIPPING
We take personal responsibility to equip ourselves and others to do the work of the ministry.
COMMUNITY
We choose to reach beyond ourselves and draw people in. We care about being connected to one another and connecting others to each other.
SERVANT LEADERSHIP
We lead by looking for ways to serve others. We are "there you are" people rather than "here I am" people.
CELEBRATION
We celebrate what God has done, is doing, and is going to do. We celebrate each other through encouraging words.
CONSISTENT GENEROSITY
We are blessed to be a blessing on all occasions.
INTEGRITY
We have a personal conviction and commitment to live by the principles of God's Word, publicly and privately.
INVITE
We consistently invite others to know Jesus and experience Victory.
